IBERCAJA SUPPORTS SOCIAL PROJECTS IN ALL SPAIN

ZARAGOZA, March 3, 2010 -. The 6 th Call for Aid for Social Projects Ibercaja 2011 and has its result. Of the 500 projects submitted, 268 have been selected initiatives in Spain, for a total of over 2.5 billion euros, directly benefiting 120,000 people throughout the country level. They are united by the common denominator of the call: assistance to various groups who are at risk of social exclusion or reliant on social, physical or mental. This sixth edition of Social Work Helps Ibercaja is primarily intended to support initiatives for job creation and projects to meet basic needs. It has also paid special attention to projects aimed at care for physically and mentally handicapped, those targeting groups at risk of exclusion and Alzheimer oriented to coincide with the celebration this year 2011, the "International Year Alzheimer's. " In his six years of activity, Ibercaja has given support to a total of 936 associations, worth 23.7 million euros.

The 268 projects selected this year are intended for different actions: 112 for activities that foster care people in basic needs, 102 for the socio-occupational groups at risk of exclusion and disabled, and 54 for adequacy of infrastructure. This distribution implies that 42% of the approved projects are intended to cover basic needs 38% support the creation of employment and 20%, the adequacy of infrastructure.

Representatives of 80 organizations promoting many other projects in Zaragoza this morning signed the agreements with which to develop their plans.
