The Great Tribulation and the Day of the Lord are the same thing?
Are Ira Tribulation and the same thing? Friday, March 26, 2010
Veggie Clip For Fish Tank
One of the reasons why many Christians fail to interpret the eschatological events in the Bible and by creating "a secret rapture" three or seven years before the end (1), it is because they do not, as the Bible teaches a clear distinction between the period of "Great Tribulation" and "The Day of the Lord." God tells us in his word that the two things have to happen. But for them the "Great Tribulation" is "The Day of the Lord" and "The Day of the Lord" is the "Great Tribulation." By confusing these two events, not less expected to try to get the Church on earth before the Great Tribulation, it is clear that "God hath not appointed us to wrath but to receive salvation ...".
Are The Great Tribulation and The Day of Wrath "the same thing? The answer is 'No!'. In this brief study we want to expose correctly what the Bible says concerning the final events such as the "Great Tribulation" and "The Day of the Lord." We will see clearly what are the characteristics of each of these events, particularly "The Day of the Lord." But I think before we go to see what God says about the resurrection. It is necessary to establish biblically when befall this important event to then be able to locate the other events that concern us in this study, namely "The Great Tribulation" and "The Day of the Lord", and do so correcta.LA RESURRECTION
God says clearly that resurrection of both "believers" as "non-believers" must occur in one and the same day. Although these resurrections of believers and unbelievers are listed separately in the Bible in order to bring a teaching general contract conditions, are also mentioned as an event that must take place the same day. The Bible testifies to this in the Old and New Testament: Daniel 12
1 "Then Michael, the great prince guard your pueblo.Habrá a period of anguish, just as it has ever been since the nations there. Be saved thy people, whose * name is recorded in the book, 2 and dust of the earth will awake the sleeping crowd, some of them to live forever, others to be in shame and perpetual confusion. John 5
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming when all who are in the graves shall hear his voice: 29 And they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, unto the Resurrection sentencing.
The Bible tells us that believers will be resurrected in the "last day" and also tells us that "non-believers" are to be judged the last day.
John 6 43 Then Jesus answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him on the last day.
John 12 48 He that rejects me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word I have spoken will judge him "the last day."
being so clear then that the general resurrection of the just and unjust must occur on the same day, "the last day," then we can not escape the conclusion that the Church is Biblical in the ground until the last day when it has to happen this resurrection of the dead. That day also will be the rapture of the Church.
But there is an event that must take place before the date of the resurrrección. This event is known as "The Great Tribulation." If the church is to be on earth until the last day, it is then necessary to understand that obligation must also pass through the great tribulation, as the general resurrection of all living, happens 'after' of "The Great Tribulation." Consider what says Biblia.LA GREAT TRIBULATION
In the Sermon on the Mount of Olives (Matthew 24 Mark 13, Luke 21), Jesus Christ told his disciples left (the Christians) who would be turned over to tribulation and great tribulation.
Matthew 24 15 Therefore, when you see in the holy place the abomination of desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand), 16 then let those in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Whoever is on the housetop not come down to take something from home, 18 and that is in the field return back to take his coat. 19 But Woe to those who are pregnant, and that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in winter or on Sabbath, 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Jesus made it clear to his disciples that they would see "the abomination of desolation" and "then great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall be.." and that because of "his chosen" (= Christian Believers) those days be shortened. Christ also said he would come down to take "after the tribulation of those days ": Matthew 24
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth and see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
In the Old Testament is also spoke of this time of tribulation which is to suffer the people of God. Daniel tells us this way:
Daniel 12
1 "Then Michael, the great prince guard your pueblo.Habrá a period of anguish, just as it has ever been since the nations there. Be saved thy people, whose * name is recorded in the book, 2 and dust of the earth will awake the sleeping crowd, some of them to live forever, others to be in shame and perpetual confusion.
As we see in this reading, it says "shall Michael stand up" (a type of Christ) who Prince is the protector of the people of God. By Michael, "then there will be a period of anguish," as Christ said in Matthew, Mark and Luke. In the words of Daniel, "as it has not been ever since the nations there." During this time of trouble (tribulation) without precedent, "shall be saved thy people, whose * name is recorded in the book." This we said that although the people of God have to go through this anguish can not be beaten, shall not perish but be saved. These are the true believers, "the elect" whose names are written in the book of life of the lamb.
It must be noted here that the anguish culminates in a general resurrection. Some to live forever and others to damnation and everlasting contempt.
Isaiah speaks of it like this: Isaiah 26
16 LORD, in trouble thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening. 17 As the pregnant woman is about the birth writhes and cries out in pain, so we have been before thee, O Lord. 18 conceive, we had labor pains, gave birth to wind, no release did on earth, or inhabitants of the world fell. 19 Your dead shall live, their bodies will rise. ! Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust; for your dew is as the dew of herbs, and the land will yield its dead. 20 Come, my people, enter into thy chambers, shut thy door, hide a bit, for a moment, while passing indignation. 21 For behold the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth discover her blood, and no more cover her slain.
see that agreeing with the words of the prophet Daniel and Christ as said Matthew, Mark and Luke, the tribulation ends with the resurrection of the dead which in turn clearly consistent with the Second Coming of Christ when He comes in " the last day "to derraamar their anger and punishment on the inhabitants of the land: Isaiah 26
21 For behold the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth discover her blood, and no more cover their dead.
That day is the day of the Lord! The following features will be looking around this great and terrible day (for sinners), but much-awaited day (for believers).
THE LORD'S DAY
What is the Lord's day?
The Lord's day is the day when history will end this world to lead the new state eternal, the Kingdom of Heaven. That day will be:
- The resurrection of the dead (righteous and unrighteous)
- The wrath of God is shed on the earth
- The trial of God over all mankind and the universe will be burned and destroyed
" that will precede the Lord's day?
Jesus tells us that "before" of 'The Day of the Lord' will come the Great Tribulation. And after the tribulation of those days comes to an end, then "immediately" horrific events begin to occur in the atmosphere. Jesus says that the day the Lord will be opened by atmospheric disturbances worldwide.
Matthew 24 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Mark 13 24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, 25 and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
Luke 21 25 Then there will be signs in the sun, moon and stars, and on earth distress of nations, perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 men fainting from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Christ's words are consistent with those of the prophets of the Old Testament: Joel 2
1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain tremble all the inhabitants of the earth, for Jehovah's day is coming because it is close. 2 day of darkness and gloominess, a day of cloud and shadow on the mountains as dawn spreads, will come a great and strong, like it had not occurred, or after he will be the years of many generations. 3 Before them fire devours, behind them a flame burns, as the garden of Eden is the land before him, and behind them a desolate wilderness, and nothing shall escape them. 4 Their appearance, like the appearance of horses and horsemen and run. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, like the noise of a flame of fire devouring the stubble, as a strong people set in battle. 6 Before he fear the people shall be all faces pale. 7 shall run like mighty men of war and climb the wall, each to his own way, and not twist their way. 8 no close to their partner, they each go in their careers, and they fall upon the sword shall not be wounded. 9 Iran by the city, run along the wall, climb into the houses, enter through the windows like thieves.
10 Before him the earth shake, will shake the heavens, the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining. 11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great, strong is the running order, for great is the day of Jehovah, and very terrible; who can endure it? Zephaniah 1
Near
14 is the big day of the Lord, near and close, even the voice of the day of the Lord, the valiant cry there. 15 Day of wrath that day, the day of trouble and distress, a day of ruin and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, 16 days of the trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities, and on high towers. 17 And distress upon men, and they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out like dust and their flesh as dung. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver on the day of the wrath of the LORD, all the earth shall be devoured by the fire of his zeal, because certainly make hasty destruction of all the inhabitants of the earth.
The apostle Peter says:
Acts 2 19 And I will show wonders in heaven above, And signs on the earth, blood and fire and vapor of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon blood, before the coming of the Lord's day, great and notable
2 Peter 3 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day the Lord will come like a thief in night, in which the heavens will disappear with a roar and the elements will melt with fire, and earth and the works that are therein shall be burned ...... 12 Looking for and hastening the coming Day of God in which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements being burned, will merge?
We see clearly that "The Lord's Day" will be preceded by large atmospheric changes that have come upon the whole earth suddenly and unexpectedly. Hence the phrase "like a thief in the night."
To summarize, these events' are 'immediately' The Great Tribulation "and" preceding "Immediately "The Lord's Day" include:
1. The sun will be darkened (the entire earth will be in darkness suddenly)
2. The moon will become blood
3. The stars will be shaken (meteor shower)
4. The sea will rise strongly
5. The earth will shake
What will happen after the atmospheric disturbances?
These events tell us that "The day we expected." Luke tells us "When these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near":
Luke 21 25 Then there will be signs in the sun, moon and stars, and on earth distress of nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 men fainting from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 When these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near. ... 35 For as a snare shall it come upon all who dwell on the face of the earth. 36 Watch therefore and pray always that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things to come, and stand before the Son of Man.
1. Son of Man will appear in the clouds of heaven
In the moments after they have started the atmospheric disturbances which tells us to indicate that "our redemption is near," Jesus Christ appears in the clouds of sky visible all the inhabitants of the oo the. Acts 1
10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he went up, behold, they stood by two men dressed in white, 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, shall so come as you saw him go into heaven. Revelation 1
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds and every eye will see Him, and those who pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth will mourn because of Him. Yes, amen.
Luke 21:27 "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Matthew 24 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth and see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Marcos 1326 Then see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
2. The Rapture of the Chosen
Immediately after the appearance of Christ in the clouds occur 'The Rapture' of the Church (the elect). This will happen in the light of all the inhabitants of the earth. Be caught up into the clouds to view the unbelieving world. In Revelation 11 we have the story of the resurrection of the Two Witnesses (representing the church) who testified in the land ...
Revelation 11 11 And after three and a half went into them the spirit of life from God, and rose to his feet, fell great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12 And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them: Come up here. And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.
Matthew 24 31 And he shall send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Mark 13 27 And then shall he send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the ends of heaven.
John 14
3 And if I go and prepare a place, I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am you may be also.
1 Corinthians 15 51 Behold, I shew you a mystery: not all sleep, but shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the blink of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 Where, O death is your sting? Where, O grave, thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4 16 For the Lord himself with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God shall descend from heaven and the dead in Christ shall rise first. 17 Then we which are alive, who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Señor.18 Therefore, comfort one another with these words.
Revelation 14 14 I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 And he that sat upon the cloud swung his sickle on the earth, the earth was reaped.
Note: The rapture of the saints occurs at this point to be delivered from the wrath of God is to be poured upon the earth: 1 Thessalonians 1
10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, which rose from the dead, Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come.
1 Thessalonians 5
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
3. The Wrath of God is poured upon the inhabitants of the earth
Immediately after the rapture of the Church, there will be a great earthquake in the land ...
Revelation 11 11 And after three and a half went into them the spirit of life from God, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12 And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them: Come up here. They went to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. 13 At that time there was a great earthquake and a tenth of the city fell, and the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the rest were terrified and gave glory to God in heaven. 14 The second woe is past: behold, the third woe comes quickly.
Touching the last trump, the seventh, it marks the rapture of the saints to heaven, all the inhabitants of the earth will see Christ in the clouds of heaven ...
Revelation 11 15 The seventh angel sounded, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world have become our Lord and his Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever. 16 And the elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17 saying: We thank you, Lord God Almighty, which art and wast, and art to come, because You have taken Your great power and reigned. 18 And the nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, and the time to judge the dead and for rewarding your servants the prophets, saints, and them that fear thy name, small and large , and destroy those who destroy the earth. 19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of his covenant was seen in the temple. And there were lightnings, voices, thunder, an earthquake and great hail. Revelation 14
17 Another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and also a sharp sickle. 18 And another angel came from the altar, which had power over fire and called in a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, "Take your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the earth, because its grapes are ripe. 19 And the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw the grapes into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood flowed out winery horse bridles, by 1600 stadia.
The apostle Paul tells us God's wrath will be poured. Tribulation of God to afflict us! 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10
It is a righteous God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and you who are troubled rest with us, done before the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels his power in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, nor obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who sufiriran punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and the glory of his power, When you come in that day "to be glorified in His saints and to be admired in all them that believe
4. The Great Judgement Final
God has established "a day of Judgement." One where they should be all This is known as the "eternal damnation" (Hebrews 6:2). While the Church should not be condemned (Romans 5:1), whether to be present in this "Day of Reckoning" (see Romans 2 :1-16 where this is confirmed). The reason is that everyone must give account to God.
Acts 17 30 But God having overlooked the times of this ignorance, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has fixed a day when he will judge the world in righteousness by the man who appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.
The apostle Paul also refers to this very day:
2 Timothy 4:1, 8
1 I charge thee therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead at his appearing and in his kingdom
8 Moreover, I is a crown of righteousness, which will give me the Lord, the righteous judge, "that day" and not to me only, but unto all them that love his appearing.
Here we see clearly that Paul's words are consistent with those of Jesus in Matthew: Matthew 25
"31 And when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the saints angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory. 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right and the goats on the left
Jude 1
14 of which also prophesied Enoch, the seventh from Adam, saying: Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of His saints, 15 MAKE LAWSUIT AGAINST ALL and to to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. CONCLUSION
As we have seen, we are very clear in the Bible that the period of "Great Tribulation" although it is a time trial from God to a wayward apostate church at the time of order, can not be confused with "The Day of the Lord" in which God's wrath will be poured with fury upon the inhabitants of the land once the saints of the Church being raptured to be with the Lord forever.
Notes:
(1) The "System Pretribucionalista Dispensationalist" has created a doctrine that establishes a secret coming of Christ for His own before the Second Coming of the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
